Winding Waters K-8 School

Weeki Wachee, FL

Hernando County School Board | 185,213 SF | 2011

The 185,213 square foot Winding Waters K-8 School consists of four buildings that are connected by an enclosed atrium. The buildings house a one-story administration/media center, one-story dining/art wing, three story classroom wing, and gymnasium. The three-story classroom wing's compact footprint allowed the building to be placed on a small site. The school's capacity is 1,405 students.

The school has modern technology throughout the facility. Each of its 75 classrooms has interactive white boards and ceiling-mounted projectors. The media center has 30 iPads that students can use to access 30 percent of the media center's circulation. The school also houses a video production room.

Winding Waters' athletic facilities include tennis and basketball courts, a baseball/softball diamond, and a practice field.
